There are several different ways we can work with you to help you create your dream home. Each has its advantages. We can help you choose which way is best for you.
As specialists in creating the highest-performing building shells available, flat-packed and shipped, pre-insulated, to the job site on a flatbed trailer, we can build homes anywhere in North America. We send a supervisor or crew to assemble the envelope and air-test it to meet our stringent Passive House standards, all in a matter of days, leaving you with a high-performance building shell in much less time than it would take to site-build a similar project.
To tunnel through the cost barrier that often occurs with custom home design, we have developed the Solsken by Ecocor line of homes. Developed in collaboration with accomplished Passive House-certified architects, they are pre-priced with standard details, and customizable to suit your needs. View our Solsken by Ecocor homes here.
For local projects, we can manage the entire project from beginning to end, providing you with continuity and top quality craftsmanship throughout the construction process.
We are architects as well as builders, and, to the best of our knowledge, have designed and built more Passive Houses than anyone else in North America. Instead of adapting/optimizing another design to meet the Passive House standard, we design with performance goals leading the way. We enjoy the design/build process and we take ownership all the way through the project. We listen to your goals and desires, and we take your budget very seriously. We have experience dealing with challenging building sites, all sorts of tastes and styles, and of course, top-level building energy performance.
Some houses are good candidates for Passive House Retrofits. We have completed several such projects, using various methods, and we can discuss with you ways that your existing home might reach Passive House levels of performance. Passive House Retrofits can be difficult to justify using cost metrics alone, but they are a great way to reduce energy demand. As always, we pay close attention to building science to make sure your building envelope does not become a “vapor sandwich.” We leave you with a durable, resilient, low-energy home.
